Sen. Rockefeller Also Will Hold Mobile Privacy Hearing

There has been much controversy recently concerning researchers’ revelations about the tracking and storage of users’ location data on Apple iPhones and 3G-enabled iPad tablets, as well as location tracking on Google Android devices. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.), chairman of the subcommittee on Privacy, Technology and the Law of the Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a hearing on mobile privacy issues: “Protecting Mobile Privacy: Your Smartphones, Tablets, Cell Phones and Your Privacy.”

Now, Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W. Va.), chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, has announced that he will hold a hearing on mobile privacy issues. “The May hearing on mobile privacy is the Commerce Committee’s sixth hearing on consumer privacy in the past year,” the committee said in announcing the hearing, but with no date yet attached, reports Broadcasting and Cable.
