    Herald Sun (Australia): Vodafone sacks staff over privacy breach

    The Herald Sun in Australia has the latest in a series of cases where insiders misuse or abuse their access to private data. (Read a previous post for more info on such cases.)

    Vodafone has sacked several employees over the leaking of its customers’ personal details.

    Vodafone said it is currently reviewing its IT security and training, and has put in place a number of recommendations and has other changes planned shortly.

    “We take data security and the storage of our customers’ information extremely seriously,” Vodafone Hutchison Australia chief executive Nigel Dews said.
