There has been a lot of case law development in recent years that will grant pardons to those who fall subject to these kind of law enforcement practices: http://swiftgavel.blogspot.com/2009/08/law-enforcement-officers-purchasing.html So basically it is coming down to those who don't keep up with the law will plea and fall subject to the lack of their own knowledge. Anyone who pursues that feeling of awkwardness due to these practices will be just in doing so, and will have the country's true legal authorities behind them.
