Amid Widespread Criticism, Facebook Makes Changes to Privacy Settings

Social-networking site Facebook has faced mounting criticism — from the public, expertsregulators and even the social-networking site’s former privacy chief — over its many changes to users’ privacy settings as well as privacy problems with its advertising set-up. Now, the company has made several changes to its privacy settings.

Coverage of Facebook’s new settings are at: the Washington Post, CNet, USA Today, the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Financial Times, and the Associated Press.

A good commentary about the new settings is from the ACLU of Northern California, which has “an overview of Facebook’s most serious privacy problems and what Facebook has done (and in some cases, not done) to address them.”
